The Silky Terrier, was originally brought in from Sydney, Australia, and was the result of crossbreeding of Yorkshire Terriers and Australian Terriers in the 1890's. This breed is a true "toy terrier". He is moderately low set, slightly longer than tall, of refined bone structure, but of sufficient substance to suggest the ability to hunt and kill domestic rodents. Silkys may resemble a Yorkie to some people but, they are very different. They actually come closer to being an Australian Terrier with a Yorkie look to coat if you must compare them.

Commercial pet food manufacturers are motivated mostly by profits and consequently, commercially prepared foods are commonly marketed as part of a sufficient, or good, diet for your dog. Sometimes your vet or dog breeder may approve of commercially prepared foods as your dog's sole diet. However, there is a very large body of research that tends to prefer a largely natural diet which for dogs is invariably comprised of meat and bones. Raw is preferable to cooked, as some of the minerals are entirely lost in the cooking process.

Unless you can monitor your puppy 24 hours a day, don't expect the house training process to be completed until your puppy is at least 6 months old. It's normal for a young puppy to be a little 'input-output' machine. Since puppies are growing and developing rapidly at this stage, they eat more food, burn up more energy and seem to need to eliminate constantly! They also have not yet developed bowel and bladder control, so they can't 'hold it' as long as adult dogs.
